Today at Disneyland: Three Kings' Day

The Christmas season comes to a close today with the Feast of the Epiphany, also known as Three Kings' Day.

For the second consecutive year, Disneyland has celebrated Three Kings' Day, or Dia de Reyes.

We concluded our Christmas vacation today with a wonderful time with friends at the park, including enjoying the Three Kings events.

It had rained overnight and more rain was forecast for today, but we couldn't have had more perfect weather. It was a bit overcast at times but for the most part it was clear and sunny.

It felt good to enjoy a little more of the Christmas season when much of the world has already moved on.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closes down tomorrow for a $4 million rehab project which is projected to last most of 2013.

We thought we had taken our last ride until next fall in December but were happy to be able to squeeze in one more ride today!

The Three Kings' celebration is held at Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree:

The backdrop used for special photos with Mickey and Minnie Mouse:

I loved the dancers with their colorful dresses!

I liked the contrast of the decorations with the sky, which turned gray for a short time:

Rancho del Zocalo had a special Dia de Reyes menu this weekend. I got the platter with carne asada and a chicken tamale.

I hope Disneyland will continue to hold this celebration in the future, it makes a wonderful ending for the holiday season!

I had planned to attend on Saturday but a memorial service for one of my husband's cousins ended up on that date in San Jose so we went up there for three days. These are really great pictures. I had looked forward to having some of the Mexican Hot Chocolate at Del Z again this year. I wish they would serve it at least during the winter months.

Hi Irene!

I'm so sorry about your husband's cousin passing on and hope your trip went well.

Wish the timing had worked out for you to enjoy Three Kings' Day -- hopefully next year! I wish they would serve tamales more often, too.

Thanks for the kind feedback on the photos!

Hope to see you in the park in 2013!

Best wishes,
Laura

Glad we could get in a few rides on Thunder Mountain before it goes down for rehab. It was fun spending the day with you all, and nice that it did not rain on us!

We had a great time with you and were so fortunate the weather cooperated! (And maybe also helped to keep the crowds down!)

Hope to see you all again soon --
Laura
