NOTE: Today is the 60th Anniversary of one of my favorite places, Disneyland.
I'll have more on the anniversary here later in the day, but in the meantime I'd like to share my 59th Anniversary photo post, which includes Walt Disney's famous Opening Day speech given on July 17, 1955. To hear the speech in Walt's own voice, click the link below.
It seems especially appropriate that the first photo in the post is of the Partners statue, which was sculpted by Imagineering great Blaine Gibson. Gibson passed away on July 5th at the age of 97.
"To all who come to this happy place, welcome!"
"Disneyland is your land."
"Here age relives fond memories of the past..."
"...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future."
"Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America..."
"...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."
With love and appreciation for Walt Disney and the Happiest Place on Earth!
