The British miniseries LILLIE, which aired in the United States on MASTERPIECE THEATER, comes to DVD on February 19th.The miniseries stars Francesca Annis as Lillie Langtry, a role she also played briefly in the classic 1975 miniseries EDWARD THE KING.
LILLIE is a show I'd like to see again, although I'd rank it as a "Netflix" rather than a "have to own" show. It's an engrossing slice of British history, but the amoral heroine is not especially sympathetic; her life is interesting but also more than a bit depressing.
LILLIE was previously released on VHS.
I'd only watch it for the clothes.
