Southern California is home to two great hamburger chains which have been around since the mid 20th century: Fatburger and the better-known In-N-Out Burger.
I love them equally; they are quite different. Fatburger, for example, has large steak fries ("Fat Fries") while In-N-Out's fries are more traditional "thin" fries. In-N-Out doesn't have onion rings, and I believe Fatburger's are the Best Ever. Ever.
Lovie Yancey, the founder of the Fatburger chain, has passed away at the age of 96.
Welcome back! You were missed!
ReplyDeleteIn Maryland, there's a restaurant (possibly a chain) called Cheeseburger Cheeseburger. They have THE yummiest onion rings known to man (well, to this woman anyway). I want some now, having conjured the memory!
Isn't there something called Hamburger Hamlet, or something like that, too?? I had a young nephew, eons ago, who loved it there.
Best - Anne
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think there are a few Hamburger Hamlets left...I've only eaten there once, many moons ago.
Too bad neither of us is anywhere near Maryland. :)
Best wishes,
Laura
