Flaky Flix Cookies Are Back!

Mother's Flaky Flix cookies disappeared a couple of years ago. Fudge Flaky Flix were my favorite cookies, other than the late, lamented Hydrox cookies.

When I was little, Flaky Flix were known by the name of Fiddle Flakes. I'm not sure if a different company made them then.

I was grocery shopping this afternoon and what to my wondering eyes appeared...but fudge and vanilla Flaky Flix!

The cookies are now short and wide instead of long and skinny, but they taste the same. O Happy Day!

January 2009 Update: This post continues to receive a fair amount of traffic, so I'd like to direct readers to two updates: a post on Mother's Cookies declaring bankruptcy in October 2008 and Kellogg's buying the Mother's Cookies trademarks and recipes in December 2008.

April 30, 2009 Update: Here is the latest on Mother's Cookies' comeback.

  1. Well, they had returned to Southern CA markets at the time I posted this in February 2008, but unfortunately their maker, Mother's Cookies, shut down and filed bankruptcy this fall. However, there is hope for Flaky Flix, as Kellogg's has bought Mother's recipes. Only time will tell if they decide to bring back Flaky Flix.

    Best wishes,
    Laura

I remember the brief comeback, I even called Mother’s. I was blessed to have purchased my fair share showing off their awesomeness. I miss them so much I just checked the internet and the recipe is posted. I’m making some tomorrow. Long Live Fidfle Flakes!!!! OneLove ❣️

  2. As a transplanted San Francisco native, I am in DIRE need of finding these cookies online. I don't think discovering them in North Carolina is possible. Does anyone know of any website that sells them?

My son bought some at Dollar General in NC. I told him I’d kill for a few boxes and to send me some in AR. I’m waiting…

  4. January 2010 Update:

Unfortunately, since Mother's declared bankruptcy and then the recipes were bought by Kellogg's, Flaky Flix have not been seen in stores. There is always hope, however, that Kellogg's will eventually bring them back. I encourage anyone who loves Flaky Flix to contact Kellogg's and request them. (I'd also love to see the Mother's Cookie Parade bags brought back...)

    Best wishes,
    Laura

  6. It is heart breaking to read articles of the return of my favorite fiddle flakes only to learn of their quick disappearance again. The last time I had these were in 2007, and I've been searching for them ever since. With such a big demand, why can't the new company bring them back?
