Notable Passings

...Actress Eve Brent, who starred as Jane opposite Gordon Scott in a pair of 1958 TARZAN films, has passed away at the age of 82.

Brent, who began acting under the name Jean Lewis, appeared in her first film in 1955; she also guest starred in many TV shows. Brent never stopped acting, with a film credit as recent as this year.

Here's a good 2007 interview with Brent, in which she tells the story of director Samuel Fuller changing her professional name in honor of actress Evelyn Brent.

...Orchestrator Jack Hayes has died at the age of 92.

Film music expert Jon Burlingame wrote Hayes's obituary in Variety.

Hayes, who once toured as conductor for Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, began his film career in 1955. He was Oscar-nominated for THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN (1964) and THE COLOR PURPLE (1985).

Hayes worked through 2009, with his most recent credits including THE INCREDIBLES (2004), RATATOUILLE (2007), STAR TREK (2009), and UP (2009).
