Fox Movie Channel in May: Highlights

As has recently been the case, classic films are noticeably absent from the Fox Movie Channel schedule on some days this month, especially in the latter half of May.

That said, it's a good month for classic films on the channel. Here are a few titles to watch for:

...Tom Ewell, Jayne Mansfield, Edmond O'Brien, and Julie London star in Frank Tashlin's THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT (1956) on Wednesday, May 2nd.

...Gene Tierney, George Montgomery, and Lynn Bari star in CHINA GIRL (1942) on May 3rd.

...On May 5th, ANNE OF THE INDIES stars Jean Peters, Debra Paget, Louis Jourdan, and Herbert Marshall. It was directed by Jacques Tourneur. Stay tuned afterwards for the fabulous adventure film SON OF FURY (1942) with Tyrone Power and Gene Tierney.

...Tierney and Power are back in separate films on May 6th: Tierney stars in HUDSON'S BAY (1940) with Paul Muni and Laird Cregar, while Power stars with Orson Welles and Wanda Hendrix in PRINCE OF FOXES (1949).

...On May 7th, Claudette Colbert stars in the WWII prisoner of war film THREE CAME HOME (1950).  Sessue Hayakawa and Patric Knowles costar.

...May 8th is a fantastic day of film noir on Fox Movie Channel: Dana Andrews, Linda Darnell, and Alice Faye in FALLEN ANGEL (1945); Victor Mature, Coleen Gray, and Richard Widmark in KISS OF DEATH (1947); and Tyrone Power, Coleen Gray, and Joan Blondell in NIGHTMARE ALLEY (1947).

...On May 9th, Lloyd Nolan and Marjorie Weaver star in the Michael Shayne mystery THE MAN WHO WOULDN'T DIE (1942).

...Alice Faye and Bebe Daniels star in MUSIC IS MAGIC (1935) on May 11th.

...THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR is one of the most exquisite fantasies produced by Hollywood. This film, starring Gene Tierney, Rex Harrison, George Sanders, and Natalie Wood, airs on May 14th.

...Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara star in the adventure film THE BLACK SWAN (1942) on May 22nd.

...I'm intrigued by THE FOXES OF HARROW (1947), playing on May 25th. It stars Maureen O'Hara and Rex Harrison.

...TONIGHT WE RAID CALAIS (1943) seems to be a "B" WWII movie, a 70-minute title starring John Sutton, Annabella, and Lee J. Cobb. It was directed by John Brahm (HANGOVER SQUARE). It will be shown Sunday, May 27th.

...MARGIE (1946), which was shown on Turner Classic Movies last Christmas Eve, returns to Fox Movie Channel at long last on May 29th. Jeanne Crain stars in the title role.

There are a few other films from the classic film era scattered around the schedule; most have been highlighted here in recent months so aren't mentioned this time around. Be sure to check the complete schedule.
