This Weekend at Disneyland: Changes

Friday evening we followed our visit to Disney's California Adventure by popping into Disneyland for a couple of hours. We were particularly interested in checking out some of the relatively small but interesting recent changes in the park.

Spring in bloom at Town Square:

And lots of bright colors at the Hub:

The Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor just completed a remodel, but I can't say we were particularly impressed. The new interior seems to consist of lots more line space and less seating, and we were especially sorry about the disappearance of the distinctive green elephant. (There's a photo of the elephant here.)

It seems as though they're trying for a uniform color palette with The Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, located further down the street, but I personally would have liked to see something more colorful here.

The Candy Palace kitchen now shares the same colors; it's much bigger, and a definite plus is that there is a great deal more window space:

The back room of the Candy Palace now looks quite different, with the removal of the big center island counters, and I was glad to see a different color scheme used here:

The nicest change at the park was the addition of the Alice Davis tribute window, which was unveiled earlier this month.

Alice, a Disney Legend, is especially known for her costume designs, including wardrobes for the characters in It's a Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean. Her window says "Small World Costume Co. - Seamstress to the Stars."

It's right next to the window celebrating Alice's late husband, animator-Imagineer extraordinaire Marc Davis:

We'll be back at Disneyland very soon, for a private passholder party celebrating the 20th anniversary of Fantasmic!
