Happy Valentine's Day!

Best wishes for a very happy Valentine's Day!

The beautiful actress in this lovely studio publicity still is Dorothy Hart. She was born in Ohio in 1922 and appeared in over two dozen films and TV shows between 1947 and 1955.

A few days ago I reviewed Hart in her appealing film debut as Jane, the "good" sister in the Randolph Scott Western GUNFIGHTERS (1947).

The strikingly lovely Hart was also in THE NAKED CITY (1948), LARCENY (1948), and RATON PASS (1951). She had a particularly good part in RATON PASS as Lena, who loves Dennis Morgan's character from afar, only to see him marry evil Patricia Neal.

Hart's other films included DOWN TO EARTH (1947), CALAMITY JANE AND SAM BASS (1949), UNDERTOW (1949), I WAS A COMMUNIST FOR THE FBI (1951), INSIDE THE WALLS OF FOLSOM PRISON (1951), and LOAN SHARK (1952), plus she was Jane in TARZAN'S SAVAGE FURY (1952) with Lex Barker.

She moved to New York in the '50s, where she did some television and began working with the United Nations. She also married and raised a son.

Dorothy Hart died in North Carolina in 2004, at the age of 82. She is buried in Asheville.

2016 Update: Here are reviews of TAKE ONE FALSE STEP (1949) and OUTSIDE THE WALL (1951), seen at the Noir City Film Festival.

2018 Update: Here's my review of UNDERTOW (1949).

Update: I've now reviewed Blu-ray releases of LARCENY, TAKE ONE FALSE STEP, UNDERTOW, and OUTSIDE THE WALL.

I first saw Dorothy Hart in Loan Shark and then in The Story of MOLLY X.
Must catch up on her other films.

That's a goal of mine, too, Vienna. I was surprised to realize how many of her films are in my collection. I'll enjoy checking out more of them.

Best wishes,
Laura
