TCM Star of the Month: Edward G. Robinson

The May Star of the Month on Turner Classic Movies is Edward G. Robinson.

29 Robinson films are on the May schedule, beginning on Thursday evening, May 7th.

The actor was previously honored as TCM's Star of the Month in August 1994 and May 2002.

Here's an overview of the complete Robinson schedule. Note that air times for specific time zones may be found via TCM's schedule.

THE CINCINNATI KID (1965)

I particularly recommend OUR VINES HAVE TENDER GRAPES, with Robinson in an atypical role as a Norwegian farmer who is the caring parent of young Margaret O'Brien. It's a lovely piece of Americana which I highly recommend.

I also very much enjoy Robinson as a cagey investigator on the trail of a Nazi (Orson Welles) hiding in small-town America in THE STRANGER.

"Rico" is the perfect movie to begin this month-long tribute, but we are not getting Little Caesar in Canada. They have shown it in the past, but not this Thursday. They aren't even showing Eddie G, but Outward Bound.

How interesting that LITTLE CAESAR didn't air in Canada -- and not even a Robinson film? I wonder if they chose OUTWARD BOUND since it had another LITTLE CAESAR cast member?

Hope you will get the rest of the Robinson month in Canada!

Best wishes,
Laura
