Tonight's Movie: Eat, Play, Love (2017) - A Hallmark DVD Review
EAT, PLAY, LOVE (2017) is a Hallmark Channel film which has just been released on DVD.
Hallmark favorite Jen Lilley is cute as a button starring as Carly, a veterinarian who has moved back to her hometown and is living with her grandfather Isaac (Lee Majors), a fellow veterinarian.
Carly crosses paths with her high school sweetheart Dan (Jason Cermak) and finds she's still crazy about him. Dan, unfortunately for Carly, is engaged to TV news reporter Kristi (Emily Maddison) and is about to move away, as Kristi has landed a job in New York.
Meanwhile Carly's grandfather hits it off with a retired teacher (Lindsay Wagner) when they're both interested in adopting the same dog at a shelter. Dan thinks he's been very clever engineering their meetings, but in truth the older couple might be matchmaking for him.
This is a cute "feel good" movie I enjoyed, though truth to tell the romance between Carly and Dan was secondary for me. Lilley is delightful, but Dan is a bit overly clueless; he has great insights about many other people, as well as dogs, but not about himself and definitely not Kristi. His fiancee Kristi is pretty much a cartoon character, ultimately revealed as a terrible liar, so one wonders what Dan saw in her in the first place.
That said, particularly for those of us "of a certain age," the reunion of BIONIC WOMAN Lindsay Wagner and SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN Lee Majors is absolutely delightful. Wagner and Majors have numerous scenes together and have a lovely light comedic chemistry. They really made the movie for me.
Lilley and Wagner also have some nice moments, and it's of note that the two ladies reunited the following year for the Hallmark Christmas movie MINGLE ALL THE WAY (2018).
In a nutshell, despite some weaknesses with the Dan and Kristi characters, Lilley, Wagner, and Majors make this one a "must see" for Hallmark fans. I found myself smiling frequently while watching it, and you can't ask for more than that.
The movie runs 83 minutes. It was written by Joel and Lisa Canfield and directed by Christie Will Wolf. It was filmed by Anthony Metchie in British Columbia.

This does sound very cute. I have not seen many Hallmark movies but I think they would be ideal to watch while on the treadmill; sometimes watching sports is too stressful!
Hope the film festival is fun.
