I got interested in Ruth Roman when as a kid I unpacked something old that my mom had wrapped in a newspaper years earlier. The old, yellowed paper was The Boston Globe, from 1952. There was a photo of Ruth Roman, "appearing in the M-G-M picture, Invitation." It said that Ruth was a native of the Boston area. I'd seen the movie on TV already but the fact that she was from my area made her more interesting to me at the time.
