The Wonderful Life of a Bailey Son

Jimmy Hawkins, who at age four played little Tommy Bailey in the 1946 film IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, has written a children's book inspired by the movie.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE FOR KIDS! presents a story about Hawkins' character, Tommy.

Hawkins was recently interviewed (see subject link) and says he stays in close touch with his film siblings, played by Larry Simms, Carol Coombs, and Karolyn Grimes.

A 60th Anniversary DVD of the movie was recently released. Extras include documentary featurettes.

If you've read The Shelf archives for December of '05 then you know that this is obviously one of my favorites. What I hate is that the 60th anniv. edition has nothing new and is just a re-package of the version already out(features included). I thought they would've worked a little harder for such an iconic movie instead of just giving it new cover art. It's interesting to read that about that children's book. I'll have to check it out.

Yes, I did read that post you did on WONDERFUL LIFE a while back -- it was wonderful itself!

I've got a nice video of WONDERFUL LIFE from the original negative -- to date I haven't been moved to upgrade to DVD. Maybe someday they'll put out an edition that's extra-special. Waiting to get MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET on DVD paid off. :)

Best wishes, Laura
