Tonight's Movie: Petticoat Fever (1936)
PETTICOAT FEVER is a silly trifle which finds Robert Montgomery playing the lonely operator of a "wireless station" in Labrador. One fine day a plane carrying Myrna Loy and her fiance, Reginald Owen, crash lands near the station. Bob gets one look at Myrna, the first beautiful woman he's seen in years, and he falls head over heels in love.That's pretty much all there is to the movie, as Montgomery tries to find a way to convince Loy to stay with him. The movie is passable entertainment, thanks to the two leads, but just barely. They are in wonderful form here, but unfortunately are working without much of a script.
The film runs 80 minutes and was directed by George Fitzmaurice.
PETTICOAT FEVER isn't available on DVD or VHS, but can be seen on TCM.

I adore Myrna Loy, don't you? I especially love the Thin Man series, but I will watch anything with her in it. Thanks for the heads up on this one. I will Teevo it today!

You may want to put her name in your DVR for December, rather than just the title PETTICOAT FEVER, as she also turns up on December's TCM schedule in a couple rarely seen "pre-Code" (early '30s) titles, 13 WOMEN and CONSOLATION MARRIAGE. These were made when she was still in the stage of playing lots of small parts, including villainesses. Should be interesting to check them out.
