The End of "Knowledge-Based" Schools?

Traditional school subjects are under attack in Britain, where a teachers association wants to do away with history, geography, literature, and the like and replace it with a curriculum which is "skills and competence-based, rather than prescriptive and knowledge-based."

The new curriculum would also spend school hours on topics such as "global warming, conflict and healthy living."

Teachers insist their students need "life skills" rather than "dates."

There are times I really fear for Western civilization...
