Election Day 2008
Well, here we are.
I'm not an identity politics kind of person, but I have to admit that when I cast my vote this morning, my eyes teared briefly as I voted for the first woman Republican Vice-Presidential candidate.
Afterwards I went to Starbucks -- no, not for the free coffee, but for their annual Christmas CD released today -- and a WWII veteran and his wife were in line behind me. She had a button on with a photo of Governor Palin that said, "Our Sarah."
It's nice to know that Orange County is still a lake of red amidst the sea of blue that is California.

I'll be voting in the San Fernando Valley a little later today. I doubt I'll see many McCain/Palin buttons here. I wish I lived in a red area.
I voted!
Anything good on the Christmas album? I wish Starbucks had a preview and more information on their webpage.
Praying for good results from the election.

Hey Missy,
Looking forward to catching up more soon!
The Starbucks compilation has the usual mix of classics from Frank, Nat, Dean and Ella along with some new stuff. Peggy Lee, Diana Krall, the Beach Boys, Vince Guaraldi Trio (CHARLIE BROWN), and Mahalia Jackson are among the other artists.
I often already have most of the tracks on the Starbucks albums but they're a fun mix and I love the colorful retro packaging -- they *look* so cheerful.
Best wishes,
Laura
Hi Don,
Hope you have a good voting experience in the Valley. I will be anxiously watching returns on a couple of the CA propositions this evening.
Best wishes,
Laura
Hi Laura,
I voted around ten o'clock -my usual- and there was a typical crowd. I always see several of my neighbors and I know how they're voting because I see their yardsigns. This part of Florida is traditionally conservative. This year should be no different.
Thanks for the heads up on the new Christmas cd. I always like their mix.
Holley
Thanks for the election report from the other coast, Holley!!
And very glad I could tip you off to the new Starbucks CD. Collecting good Christmas music is one of my favorite things and it was a great little distraction today. :)
Best wishes,
Laura
McCain and Palin bailed out of Michigan. Unfortunately, they believed the fixed polls the media was spewing. But, there are many of us McCain - Palin supporters here in the Great Lakes State. Don't know if they will surprise the world and take this state (wouldn't THAT be GREAT?), but I know just as many McCain - Palin supporters as I do Obama people. If Obama should win, I will never call him my president.
I enjoy your blog - keep up the good work.

Ken, thank you very much for your kind comments.
I was a history major. :) I will bookmark your site.
Best wishes,
