In Disney News...

...The Fall issue of Disney Twenty-three magazine is due out on August 14th, featuring "Cars Land: The Ultimate Insider's Manual." In addition to stories on Cars Land, the magazine will also focus on other aspects of California Adventure's "re-Imagineering," including Buena Vista Street. The issue will also cover the Disney Archives exhibit currently at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, provide info on the TV series ONCE UPON A TIME, pay tribute to the late Ray Bradbury, and honor Imagineer Alice Davis, who recently received a Main Street tribute window at Disneyland.

...In an Editor's Note this weekend, Al Lutz of MiceAge shares the news that Annual Passholders will be invited to attend screenings of Disney movie classics in the Disneyland Opera House beginning August 23rd and continuing through October. (Note: There is no permalink for the Editor's Note.) The Opera House also houses Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln.

...Disney fun on my calendar this month: Next weekend is D23's Destination D event celebrating 75 years of Disney animation, which takes place at the Disneyland Hotel; the final schedule is now available. The following weekend we have tickets to a screening of CINDERELLA (1950) at Disney's El Capitan Theatre. I'm particularly excited about this screening as we had such a good time at LADY AND THE TRAMP (1955) last February.

...Notable Passing: Ginny Tyler, who passed away last month at the age of 86, was a new Disney name to me, though she's a Disney Legend. She narrated Disney story records including BAMBI and BABES IN TOYLAND, and voiced animals in THE SWORD IN THE STONE (1963) and MARY POPPINS (1964). She also hosted segments featured in a syndicated version of THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB. There's more info on Tyler in the book MOUSE TRACKS: THE STORY OF WALT DISNEY RECORDS.
