Quick Preview of TCM in November

The online preview of the November schedule for Turner Classic Movies has now been posted on the TCM website.

The November Star of the Month is Burt Lancaster, honoring the centennial of his birth on November 2, 1913.

Close to 30 Lancaster films will be shown on Wednesday nights in November.

The titles will include THE KILLERS (1946), FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (1953), SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS (1957), SEVEN DAYS IN MAY (1964), and many other classics, including one of his last, best roles in FIELD OF DREAMS (1989). (Alas, though, TCM won't be showing the Universal film CRISS CROSS.)

The Friday Night Spotlight will focus on screwball comedies, with many beloved titles on the schedule. I haven't yet learned who will be the host.

November will also feature multi-film tributes to John Derek, Gig Young, Vivien Leigh, Joel McCrea, William Wellman, Robert Ryan, Dick Powell, Busby Berkeley, Lizabeth Scott, Cameron Mitchell, Ricardo Montalban, and Tony Martin.

I'll share more details regarding TCM's November schedule somewhere around November 1st.

In the meantime, Kim Novak is the Star of the Month for September and Vincent Price will be Star of the Month for October.

Hooray! Very glad to hear Burt Lancaster will be Star o' the Month in November. He's really left behind some wonderful movies, hasn't he? It'll be a good way to usher in the winter weather...

Our local repertory cinema had a Lancaster centennial which I had to miss because of timing (some screenings were during work times) and because of finances. So I think I will make up for it in November with the TCM Star of the Month tribute! Thanks Laura.

Glad I could share this news. :)

Raquel, UCLA also had a Lancaster centennial but I was too busy attending other festivals to see any of the movies! Glad we can make up for anything we missed this fall.

Best wishes,
Laura
