New on DVD: Maverick - Season 3

My day started out on a high note when I received an email from Ivan alerting me that Season 3 of my favorite TV series, MAVERICK, is now on DVD.

Whereas Season 1 and Season 2 of MAVERICK were regular retail releases from Warner Home Video, Season 3 has just been released by the Warner Archive.

The price tag is also higher; the full retail price of Season 2 is $40, and it can be found online for a substantially lower price. Season 3 is $49.95 at the Archive, though I expect there will eventually be a sale to knock the cost down to a more manageable price.

ClassicFlix notes that it's likely there will be an initial run of pressed discs, so those who prefer pressed discs to burned may want to consider buying the set sooner rather than later.

MAVERICK stars James Garner and Jack Kelly; this was Garner's last season. (Roger Moore joined the cast in Season 4.) The best episodes in Season 3 include "Pappy," "The Sheriff of Duck 'n' Shoot," "The Cats of Paradise," and "The Goose-Drownder," to name just a handful -- really, they're all good!
