A Wintry Trip to Flagstaff...in May!
I'm back from a whirlwind couple of days traveling with my husband to pick up our son from Northern Arizona University.
The May weather in the mountains was quite different from the warm temperatures we've been experiencing in Southern California! When we arrived in town it was raining, with hail bouncing off our windshield...
...and flurries of snow.
You can't tell from the photo below, but snow was flying at the Little America Hotel, though at that point it wasn't sticking.
We had a nice dinner at Salsa Brava on Route 66, where we'd also eaten on a trip in 2013.
Although our son is used to snow thanks to his time in Flagstaff, it's quite a novelty for his parents! And snow in Flagstaff this late in May was a new experience for our son. An Arizona paper called it "wacky weather."
Breakfast at a snow-dusted Cracker Barrel...
...and then it was time to get back on the road, rather sorry to leave the snow behind us!
Our son has one year left before graduating from NAU, so we'll be back on the road to Flagstaff for his final year this August!
