Off to the 2015 D23 Expo!

As mentioned in my post earlier this week, I'm heading to the D23 Expo this weekend!

This is Disney's fourth D23 Expo, and I've attended all of them. I'll be at the Anaheim Convention Center all day Friday through Sunday, so blogging will be light to nonexistent during the Expo. It's possible I'll have time for an Expo post or movie review late one evening, but we'll see how the weekend goes!

I'll be posting photos from the Expo all weekend on Twitter so please follow along in real time!

Some of the highlights on the schedule:

*Leonard Maltin hosting A Silly Symphony Celebration, with a 32-piece orchestra accompany various Silly Symphony cartoons, including classic favorites such as THE THREE LITTLE PIGS (1933) and THE OLD MILL (1937).

*Ron and David DeFore, sons of actor Don DeFore, talking about their experiences growing up in Disneyland when their father owned a restaurant there, Don DeFore's Silver Banjo Barbecue , which existed from 1957-61.

*Frozen Fandemonium: A Musical Celebration, which will include "special surprises." I'm wondering if any of the cast members are going to show up to sing the score in person...

*Walt Disney Archives Presents Disneyland: The Exhibit -- based on the press photos seen on Twitter tonight, this exhibit will be nothing short of amazing.

*A panel celebrating 60 years of Disneyland's Jungle Cruise ride.

Difficult schedule choices are ahead, but they're all winners!

I'll look forward to reporting on the Expo and sharing photos here in the future.

Laura, try stopping by the Marceline exhibit. As I've mentioned before, we travel to Marceline every September for the Toonfest and you won't find a nicer bunch of folks who are dedicated to the childhood memory of Walt.
They're in the process of restoring Walt's gift to the town, Disneyland's former attraction, Midget Autopia. They had it up and running for awhile before closing it down and are using Kickstarter to support the restoration efforts.
Kaye Malins should be there and she is one of the town leaders in preserving Walt's midwest heritage.

Thanks so much, Larry! I'll definitely try to fit it in this weekend. Today was jam-packed with 3 panels, 1 store, and the Disneyland Archives exhibit. Hope to have more time on the floor to see exhibits and booths this weekend! Appreciate your thoughtful recommendation.

Best wishes,
Laura
