TCM Star of the Month: Olivia de Havilland
Friday, July 1st, is the centennial of the birth of the great Olivia de Havilland.
In honor of the occasion I have written a tribute which is available at ClassicFlix. Please also visit last year's 99th Birthday Tribute for photos and review links.
Turner Classic Movies has honored de Havilland's centennial by naming her the July Star of the Month.
Olivia de Havilland films will be shown on five consecutive Friday evenings in July, beginning tonight, July 1st. The films shown include her Oscar-winning roles in TO EACH HIS OWN (1946) and THE HEIRESS (1949), as well as her Oscar-nominated roles in GONE WITH THE WIND (1939), HOLD BACK THE DAWN (1941), and THE SNAKE PIT (1948).
I particularly recommend HOLD BACK THE DAWN, a Paramount film which has turned up on TCM a couple of times but which is not available on DVD.
