Disneyland: Sunny Sunday
Along with returning to movies regularly, one of the things which has brought me great joy in recent months is being able to spend time at Disneyland again. I've always appreciated these things, but since 2020 I don't think I will ever take them for granted.
We spent a gorgeous sunny day at Disneyland last weekend! We started off by riding Rise of the Resistance in Galaxy's Edge for only the second time since it opened a little over two years ago.
Our first ride was in February 2020, less than a month before Disneyland was closed by the state. It would be closed for 412 days.
Digital reservations are no longer required for the ride. In Disneyland parlance, we "rope dropped" it, heading straight to the ride queue when the Main Street ropes dropped allowing access to the rest of the park; we made it to the queue in eight minutes flat, no mean feat given the ground covered, and exactly 60 minutes from rope drop we were in the room with Rey's hologram, where the ride begins (seen above).
The storm troopers seen above are an impressive sight! The ride is simply great.
After the ride, it was time for our favorite breakfast at the Carnation Cafe on Main Street.
The Royal Theatre at Fantasy Faire -- which some readers will recall as Carnation Gardens -- is currently being rehabbed.
These scrims utilizing '50s Fantasyland artwork are absolutely fabulous! I really enjoyed checking out and photographing all the signs. Click on any photograph to enlarge it for a closer look.
While we were at Fantasy Faire we chatted with Mulan...
...and enjoyed the view. There were lots of ducks in the moat who were fun to watch!
This statue on the back side of Sleeping Beauty Castle is one of my favorite spots in the park.
The skies over Fantasyland were a dazzling blue!
After several Disneyland rides we walked across the Esplanade to Disney California Adventure, where the Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta restaurant just reopened last week, a good 10 months after the rest of the parks.
