Joel McCrea Ranch Update

Almost one year ago I posted about plans to build a visitors center and give tours at the Joel McCrea Ranch.

Thanks to a comment from Jane, a regular reader, I learned that plans are proceeding, and it's anticipated the visitors center will be open by appointment sometime next fall or winter.

In the meantime, McCrea fans can visit the McCrea Ranch Foundation, which has a page with a couple wonderful new biographical videos about Joel McCrea.

McCrea fans who would like to help preserve this unique slice of California and film history may send donations to The Joel and Frances McCrea Ranch Foundation, P.O. Box 548, Moorpark, CA 93020, or email the foundation. The Foundation is a nonprofit corporation.

Thanks for the update, Laura. It would be so neat to visit the McCrea ranch one of these days. :)

Hi, Laura - As requested, here's an update on the ranch. According to our local paper, it will open in November:

Wouldn't you like to be the consultant who is "winnowing" through all those photos of the Golden Age of Hollywood? What a treasure trove for classic film fans! (I meant to send this article to you over a month ago but I've been preoccupied -- my older daughter and her husband have a new baby boy, our first grandchild!) Jane

Jane, thank you *very* much! This article was so informative...all the plans sound wonderful.

My husband wishes that eventually they'd have horseback riding available on the ranch. :)

Best wishes,
Laura

P.S. Was in a hurry before church earlier, I neglected to say the most important thing -- a big congratulations on the safe birth of your baby grandson, Jane!!

Best wishes,
Laura
