D23 2nd Anniversary Mixer and World of Color Event

We had a wonderful time tonight at the D23 2nd Anniversary Mixer at the Disneyland Resort.

The festivities started out at the ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney, where an entire floor had been reserved for D23 members.

The food was good, the company was congenial, and it was quite a thrill to be able to chat with Disney Legend Bob Gurr, the designer of the Autopia cars and many other ride vehicles at Disneyland. He graciously signed many autographs and posed for photos.

Below, left to right, the anniversary pin which was a gift to D23 members; a card thanking us for attending the anniversary, autographed at the top by R.H. (Bob) Gurr; and a Happy Birthday D23 button!

At 7:15 we all walked over to Disney's California Adventure for the 8:15 World of Color show. We had Fastpasses for the central Yellow section, which was definitely a better location for seeing the show than the Red area where I watched the show last summer. I enjoyed seeing World of Color a second time, but my initial criticisms remain in place. My husband saw the show for the first time tonight and his comments upon seeing it mirrored my own thoughts.

After World of Color ended, they had all the D23 guests group together so Heather, the D23 photographer, could take a group photo with Mickey's Fun Wheel in the background.

More D23 fun is ahead with this Saturday's "50 and Fabulous" screening of THE ABSENT-MINDED PROFESSOR (1961) on the Disney Studios lot.

Are voice-over artists Tony Anselmo or Bill Farmer going to be there at D23?

Hi Tom! Do you mean at the D23 Expo this summer? No schedule has been announced yet...they had some wonderful people at the Expo two years ago, as well as at Destination D last year, so you never know!

Best wishes,
Laura
