The TCM Road to Hollywood Tour

Last week Turner Classic Movies announced the Road to Hollywood series of movie screenings around the country, which will precede the the April TCM Festival in Hollywood.

The screenings are all free and will be hosted by Robert Osborne or Ben Mankiewicz, along with a star of the scheduled film.

The titles on the schedule:

...Robert Osborne and Eva Marie Saint host NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959) in Seattle and Cleveland.

...Osborne and Jane Powell host SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS (1954) in Chicago.

...Osborne and Angela Lansbury show THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE (1962) in New York.

...Ben Mankiewicz and Angie Dickinson will be at RIO BRAVO (1959) in Austin.

...Tippi Hedren shows THE BIRDS (1963) in St. Louis (with Mankiewicz) and Long Island (with Osborne).

...Mankiewicz and Shirley Jones host ELMER GANTRY (1963) in San Francisco.

...Burt Reynolds and Mankiewicz will be at SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT (1977) in Tampa;

...and Ernest Borgnine joins Mankiewicz at FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (1952) at the Egyptian in Hollywood.

What a wonderful story about John Wooden's grandson scoring the final basket before Pauley Pavilion closes for renovation. At least I've met Jane Powell and attended a special SEVEN BRIDES event in the past...but I'd sure enjoy another one! I hope you have a fabulous time, it's certain to be a great experience!
