A Visit to Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Part 1

The weekend prior to this year's TCM Classic Film Festival, I was part of a group of a half dozen classic film fans who visited Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. We paid our respects at the final resting places of many prominent classic era filmmakers and TV stars.

(Thanks to Lindsay for sharing the above photo!)

Gene Autry, star of films and TV, longtime owner of the California Angels, and founder of The Autry Museum of the American West:

Cowboy star Monte Hale is buried close to Autry, who was a good friend:

Two great Western sidekicks are also buried here, Smiley Burnette...

...and George "Gabby" Hayes:

Walt Disney's brother, Roy O. Disney, the businessman who made the execution of many of Walt's dreams a reality:

The spare "just the facts" style of this gravestone seems very appropriate for Jack Webb:

Ozzie Nelson:

 and his wife Harriet:

And their son, Rick Nelson:

Director Fritz Lang:

Director George Stevens:

I'll be sharing a few more photos from Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills in an additional post in the near future. (Update: Here is Part 2.)

  2. You're welcome! I know many people such as yourself live a great distance away and may not have the opportunity to experience this aspect of Hollywood history.

    Best wishes,
    Laura
