Richard Cohen of the Washington Post has written a truly reprehensible column in which he alleges that the nation of Israel was "a mistake"...his point is basically "What else did you expect to happen amidst a bunch of Arab countries?"
Cohen: "There is no point in condemning Hezbollah. Zealots are not amenable to reason. And there's not much point, either, in condemning Hamas. It is a fetid, anti-Semitic outfit whose organizing principle is hatred of Israel. There is, though, a point in cautioning Israel to exercise restraint."
So because Israel is surrounded by intolerance, it never should have existed in the first place, and rather than condemning the terrorists, Israel (and, apparently, the rest of the world) should just give up and accept them?
Some days I'm simply speechless.
