Bringing Back the Sunday Dinner

Mark Bittman of the New York Times writes evocatively of the pleasures of Sunday dinner (above).

He includes recipes for Prime Rib and Roast Chicken With Onions and Parsley. I've made the Roast Chicken recipe -- which is from his great book HOW TO COOK EVERYTHING -- on numerous occasions and recommend it.

Russell Cronkhite's A RETURN TO SUNDAY DINNER is a gorgeous coffee table cookbook which includes anecdotes about Sunday dinners along with the recipes.

Today our Sunday dinner will be Braised Short Ribs from perhaps my favorite cookbook, THE AMERICA'S TEST KITCHEN FAMILY COOKBOOK. I recently saw Emeril make almost the identical recipe on TV, and it looked great.
