A Police Story

Every day countless police officers across the country put their lives on the line "to protect and serve."

This is the story of two of them.

Just before last Christmas, two police officers were gunned down in downtown Long Beach, California. I worked downtown for many years so the news hit particularly close to home. My children were all born at the hospital where the officers were treated.

Part 2 of this series recounts a happy ending.

As we were particularly reminded on 9/11, we all owe the brave men and women here at home a great debt of gratitude.
