Reunion for Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood

Exciting news for fans of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK: Karen Allen will reprise her role as Marion Ravenwood in the new INDIANA JONES film.

A cast photo appears at the subject link.

Rumor has it that the leading ladies from the other Indy films will be in the movie, so I fear that may mean Allen's role is just a cameo, but I would certainly love to see a permanent reunion between Indy and Marion -- who was the only one of his leading ladies I liked. (Sorry, Mrs. Spielberg...) However, John Hurt will be playing Marion's father, Abner Ravenwood, so perhaps that portends a bigger role for Marion.

The new movie will be released in May 2008.

This is good news. Kind of makes up for Mr. Connery not coming back in his Dad role. I am looking forward to this.

I thought Mr. Ravenwood was dead??
You're right about Marion being the best leading lady, though. I only wish Indy's Dad was coming back too. Sean Connery was perfect in that role, wasn't he? The scene where Indy makes the Nazi's crash and laughing, he looks over at his dad who gives him such a "Dad" look. LOL!!

This IS great news. Of all the love interests, those 2 were the most interesting. There is only so much screeching one can take in a sequel (Mrs. Spielberg).

Allen seems to have aged well. Good for her. She's the only Indy girl I like, also. Hearing of her casting gave me an interest in the movie. Not sure how Abner Ravenwood can appear though. As of the first movie, he was already dead. Did Spielberg decide to replace the lost father (Connery) with a father-in-law/father-figure? I wonder.

If that photo shows the actors dressed in character (which I think it does), then Shia must be the leather clad, Fifties rebel. Not sure what I think of that. Looks like father-son clashes ahead. Movies need struggle but I find it annoying that most movies use the parental-child struggle plot device. It seems like lazy writing to me - a sort of Hollywood paint-by-numbers.

Count me among the excited. I am glad to see them bringing Karen Allen back. I am also glad they are making Indy more age appropriate (for Harrison, instead of getting another actor) and bringing in a son into the picture. It kind picks up on a theme in Indy 3. Whether Shia (The Beef) is up to the job remains to be seen. This is one feature film that I will be planning to see in the theater.

From what I gather, Shia LaBeouf's character in the movie is discovered to be the child of Indy and Marion Ravenwood. Maybe that means she will have a larger part. They are also parading her around the internet more than the other leading ladies. I kinda think they will have a larger part for her than just the cameo. We'll have to wait and see.
