Jane Austen Festival Coming to PBS

A three-month Jane Austen festival begins on PBS January 13th, with the airing of a new version of PERSUASION.

For further details, click on the subject link and then scroll down the page.

In related news, Gillian Anderson was recently named as the new host of MASTERPIECE THEATRE.

Perhaps more surprising to me was the news that MASTERPIECE THEATRE'S familiar brass fanfare is being removed!

I am so happy to hear of this series of Jane Austin on PBS. With the writers strike and no cable at our house, this will give me something worthwhile to watch :)

I am concerned about the changes of the format for the opening on Masterpiece Theater. I will reserve judgment until I see it. I will miss that music :(

I suppose I should give in and post blog about this on my own site (http://missyisms.typepad.com), I've known about the Jane Austen adaptations for several months. But I just can't get excited about these shows when the reviews have been so bad. Persuasion sounds like the best of the bunch; however, S&S, the only BBC adaptation in the group, hasn't been seen yet...maybe it will be good.

If they're going to film Jane Austen...why not do it right? Sigh. I'll watch any way, I just don't hold up much hope.
