Dodgers Sweep Cubs, Head to NLCS!

The Dodgers just beat the Cubs, 3-1, completing a sweep of the National League Division Series.

The boys in blue will now go on to the National League Championship Series. This will be the Dodgers' first appearance in the National League playoffs since they won the World Series in 1988.

As mentioned here before, I have extra-fond memories of that World Series, as our oldest daughter was a World Series baby. I went into labor early the morning after Kirk Gibson hit his now-legendary home run, labored through pitcher Orel Hershiser's remarkable 3-hit game (he gave up three hits, and he hit three hits, too!), had her on the off day, and we were back home by the time the Dodgers won Games 4 and 5 to win the Series. It was quite a special week.

Go Dodger Blue!

Well, looks like I won't have to put up with the indignity of losing the WS to the Dodgers, just the pain of being blasted by the Red Sox yet again.
