Today at Disneyland: Celebrate! A Street Party

This afternoon we met up with friends at Disneyland to enjoy the first-ever performance of the new Celebrate! Street Party parade.

The parade is somewhat reminiscent of the Pixar Block Party parade which was formerly at California Adventure. The parade floats stop in three different "celebration zones," and the cast members interact with the guests, including the formation of a conga line near the end of the performance.

I thought this was one of Disney's less impressive parade efforts, but it was pleasant. The colorful floats tied in nicely with the festive "Celebrate" decor around the park this year.

As I mentioned yesterday, Mr. Lincoln will be returning to the Opera House on Town Square later this year:

Another trip to the park comes to an end:

I'm planning to go on Monday to see this. I'll be blocked out for a couple of weeks in April. What this reminds you of is Block Party Bash which used to be at DCA and is now at WDW. DCA now has Pixar Play Parade. I really miss Parade of Dreams. I'm wondering what our friends at MiceChat are saying about this :o). Probably duck and cover time over there LOL.

PS. Jen and I are heading to WDW for 6 days on April 11!!!

Let me know what you think, Irene!!

Soooo cool that you're going to WDW soon! (And you can see the Block Party again, grin.) Where are you staying? Have fun!

Best wishes,
Laura

All Star Music Resort. We have park hopper tickets. Everything just recently came in the mail. We are stoked :) I know it will be crowded but it was the only time we had.

You'll have a great time! And Magical Express makes it soooo easy compared to the first trip we took (we had to rent a van just to get to the resort and turn it in at WDW, and then reverse the procedure when we left -- it was cheaper than the alternatives). You feel like you've "arrived" the minute you get into the line for your resort at the airport!

If you splurge on a big character meal, we are partial to Chef Mickey's -- it's so festive, and I love the Monorail whizzing by on that level of the hotel. But there are lots of other good options -- it's hard to choose. (Prime Time Cafe is a lot of fun too.)

Best wishes,
Laura

My brother told me about Prime Time - that's at the Disney Studio, right? Where is Chef Mickey's?

Oh, I forgot. There is quite the update on the parade/event over at MiceAge today (Saturday).

Hi Irene! I just read the MiceAge updates before I got your note -- doesn't look like the parade/party is going over especially well over there...

Yes, Prime Time Cafe is at the Studios. I recommend the pot roast. :) Chef Mickey's is on the 4th floor (aka Grand Canyon Concourse) of the Contemporary Resort. You can get there very easily via the Monorail from the Magic Kingdom.

If you go over there, I recommend getting off the Monorail at each stop on the way back to the MK and exploring the Polynesian and Grand Floridian a bit. It's fun to walk around the resorts and see what they're like even if you don't stay there.

Also, be sure to catch the Electric Light Water Pageant one evening on 7 Seas Lagoon/Bay Lake. It makes a stop at each of the "Monorail Loop" resorts, the Wilderness Lodge, and sometimes the Magic Kingdom. It was the predecessor of Anaheim's Electrical Parade. On my last trip we watched the fireworks and pageant from the beach at the Polynesian -- the fireworks music is played over loudspeakers and it was quite, well, Magical!

Best wishes,
Laura

I remember your talking about this. Thanks for that link. We will make a point to see this. I also plan to go into some of the resorts and look around :) Wish I could afford to stay at one of the more upscale ones but as Jennifer points out, we won't be in our room all that much!

The nice thing there is a lot you can enjoy at the resorts without even staying there. :)

I remember eating at the Prime Time Cafe on our honeymoon at Disney World almost 16 years ago! It was a fun place to eat.

I saw this "event" yesterday and I have to say I've completely changed my mind. I was going into it with a bit of a negative attitude but discovered I really liked it. I took lots of photos. I've been posting most of my photos on Facebook now but everyone can see them so I'll send you a link when I get them up.

PS Wonder how the parades are at Paris :)
