Toy Story News

A video update with TOY STORY news has been released featuring Lee Unkrich, the director of TOY STORY 3. (Click the title of this post.)

Lee made several announcements, including that the current 3D double bill of the first two TOY STORY films has had its run extended past the planned two weeks.

Unkrich's other announcements include naming the actor who will be replacing the late Jim Varney as the voice of Slinky Dog.

This video strikes me as an unusual publicity move, but I suspect we'll see much more online marketing of this type in the future. The Internet is being combined with the concept of "keeping fans in the loop" -- which is also behind events like Comic Con and Disney's D23 Expo -- to generate word of mouth for upcoming projects.

Previously: Tonight's Movies: Toy Story (1995) and Toy Story 2 (1999) in 3D.
