David Nelson Dies at 74

Actor David Nelson, a member of one of the first families of television, has passed away from cancer at the age of 74.

David died on Tuesday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, and brother Rick.

David starred with his family in the long-running THE ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET (1952-1966). He had previously appeared with the family in a radio version of the show, and the family also starred in the 1952 movie HERE COME THE NELSONS.

David, a graduate of USC, also appeared in some memorable films, including PEYTON PLACE (1957), DAY OF THE OUTLAW (1959), and -30- (1959).

I highly recommend the beautifully produced DVD sets The Best of the Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet: Best of Ricky and Dave.

There's more on David Nelson's life at the New York Daily News and from Lou Lumenick at the New York Post.
