Coming to DVD: TCM Exclusives

A collection of four Audie Murphy Westerns will be available exclusively from Turner Classic Movies on June 6th.

The titles are SIERRA (1950), DRUMS ACROSS THE RIVER (1954), RIDE CLEAR OF DIABLO (1954), and RIDE A CROOKED TRAIL (1958).

TCM, incidentally, has a multi-film Audie Murphy tribute planned to air in June.

50 Westerns From the 50s has more details on the Murphy films coming to DVD.

Musical fans will be happy to hear that two Jeanette MacDonald-Nelson Eddy films, SWEETHEARTS (1938) and NAUGHTY MARIETTA (1935), will be released on DVD.

In an interesting twist, the MacDonald-Eddy releases are Warner Archive DVD-Rs which will be exclusive to TCM. They'll be available April 26th.

There's no word yet on whether they'll be remastered.

Warner Archive seems to be striking "exclusive" deals with various companies, as I just recently noticed that Critic's Choice advertises they have exclusive rights to sell a Warner Archive edition of MGM's THE GREAT CARUSO (1951), starring Mario Lanza and Ann Blyth.

The Critic's Choice website indicates THE GREAT CARUSO was released last week.
