Doris Day Releasing New Album

Just yesterday I learned that the legendary Doris Day has an official website.

Today, thanks to Missy, I learned even more amazing news: Doris is releasing her first album with new material in 17 years.

MY HEART is being released in England on September 5th. It can be ordered direct from Amazon UK; even with shipping, the cost should be about $10 less than ordering it as an "import" from Amazon in the U.S.

The Amazon UK listing includes brief excerpts from each track. "My One and Only Love" with the Andre Previn Trio sounds especially good; I'd love to know when it was recorded. Some of the album's tracks were produced by Day's late son, Terry Melcher, a few years ago.

The BBC has interviewed Day, who says, "I hope that my fans will enjoy it...Whatever will be, will be, it's true."

Wonderful news! Although I would like to know how old that image of her is. It can be recent! I know she's very protective of her image.

I wonder why it's not getting a US release?

Can't wait to hear it. Like Raquelle, I wonder how old that image is? And why no US release?

Thanks for sharing this news. Her website is really nice!

I wonder if she's ever considered recording any DVD commentaries.

TOO awesome! Day is amazing and I'm so grateful she's still with us. Now that Taylor's gone, I think Doris is the last of the greats from the Golden Era--she's a national treasure!

"My One And Only Love" is from a quite delightful 1962 album - "Duets" with Andre Previn. I'm sure your dad would love it!

It must be emphasized that most of the tracks on the new CD were previously unreleased, and, as you correctly pointed out, they were produced by Terry.

And don't worry, Raquelle and Robby Cress, you will be able to purchase it quite easily from Amazon, as Laura said - similar to the wonderful Bing Crosby albums of reissues on the UK Sepia label.

Thank you, Mel, for that most helpful information! I thought the track you referred to sounded especially good, and if it's from 1962 that helps explain why she's in such strong voice on that track. Although the others sounded fine as well! I'll be very interested to learn more information.

I appreciate your sharing your insight, Mel!

Best wishes,
Laura

There's a picture of her from 2010 on the website. She's wearing sunglasses, but from what I can tell, she still looks very Dorisy. I loved her message. She's still working passionately for animals, which is why the album is coming out. Thanks for the info. Laura!

Glad I could share this, KC (and everyone!). I'll go check out that photo on the website, haven't had much time to explore it yet.

Owning "rescue" pets ourselves, I love her dedication to helping animals who can't help themselves.

Best wishes,
Laura

PS: How do you feel about strawberry shortcake? I have passed along The Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award to your site.
