Today at Disneyland: Tiki Room Golden Anniversary

Today marked the Golden Anniversary of Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, which opened in Adventureland on June 23, 1963.

Disneyland marked the anniversary in style, reprinting the original brochure introducing the attraction, which describes the show as being "brought to life through the wonders of AUDIO ANIMATRONICS!"

The crowds were out in force today to visit the "musical luau":

There were also climbers scaling the Matterhorn today! Click the photo to enlarge.

After stopping by the Tiki Room, we switched parks and enjoyed an afternoon with friends at California Adventure, where we rode Toy Story Midway Mania, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, and Grizzly River Rapids.

All in all, another great afternoon at the Disneyland Resort!

Well, we were finally there on the same day! My family was there yesterday. We saw the climbers, but we didn't end up near the Tiki Room. Fun day.

Sounds like a fun day, Laura.
For some reason, my parents never took my brothers and I to the Tiki Room when we visited Disneyland years ago. Now, it's a must for our family every visit and one of my son's favorite attractions.

Hi Deb, wouldn't it be fun if we just ran into each other unexpectedly!? Hopefully we can actually plan a time sometime this year! :)

Thanks for your thoughts, Redcon1. How great your son loves the Tiki Room too. The Tiki Room is one of my very earliest childhood memories. I remember being mystified by the "rainstorm" happening outside the Tiki Room windows.

Best wishes,
Laura
