Edith Head Series Opens Friday at UCLA

There are some very interesting overlapping classic film series playing at UCLA's Billy Wilder Theater this summer.

On July 25th the Hollywood Exiles in Europe series opened, with Exile Noir due to open on August 22nd.

This Friday, August 8th, another series begins, What I Really Do is Magic: Edith Head and Hollywood Costume Design.

The series kicks off with DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID (1982), with Carl Reiner and costume expert Deborah Nadoolman Landis in attendance.

On August 9th there's a double bill of SHE DONE HIM WRONG (1933) and the rarely seen THE JUNGLE PRINCESS (1936), starring Ray Milland and Dorothy Lamour. Head biographer David Chierichetti will be the featured speaker.

On August 16th it's an evening with THE LADY EVE (1941).

SUNSET BLVD. (1950), ROMAN HOLIDAY (1953), and TO CATCH A THIEF (1955) are also among the dozen films being shown in August and September.

The series closes on September 27th. Consult the complete schedule for additional titles, dates and other information.

Dead Men Don't wear Plaid is a funny film, and I was surprised to see Edith's name in the credits (although it made sense). So cool that Carl Reiner will attend the screening!
The Jungle Princess is the only in the line-up that I haven't watched, and now it's on my watchlist. Kisses!
