Today at Disney California Adventure: Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters Preview
It wasn't all that long ago -- 2012, to be exact -- when I attended an annual passholder preview for Luigi's Flying Tires in Disney California Adventure's Cars Land.
I enjoyed the tire ride, especially during the short-lived era when it featured huge bouncing balls along with the tire vehicles, but Disney was never happy with the ride's performance and decided to go back to the drawing board.
The new Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters had its annual passholder preview today, less than four years after the debut of the Flying Tires ride it replaces.
Commemorative keychains for passholders were a nice touch!
I wasn't sure what I'd think of the ride, which didn't look terribly different from Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, but it proved to be a fun time.
It's a nice family ride which produces smiles; in that sense it's similar to the Flying Tires ride, which my family always liked.
It's an improvement to the tires in that it's much more stylish and colorful, with the cars adding pleasing visual "eye candy" to Cars Land. It's especially pretty at night, when all the lights come on.
The ride has a unique "trackless" ride system; you have no idea where the ride will take you next!
It's not an "E" Ticket ride, but it's at least a "C," and it's a welcome addition to Cars Land. I'm looking forward to riding it again.
Brady MacDonald gives the ride a thumbs up in the Los Angeles Times.
