Today at Disneyland: Disney's Steam Trains

It rained heavily here on Friday, but you'd never have known it from the bright sunshine today. It was a perfect almost-spring day.

I met my daughter at Disneyland this morning to enjoy the 2016 Egg-stravaganza egg hunt, which we enjoyed completing in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. By the time we were done with the egg hunts we'd walked nearly six miles, so we got our day's exercise also!

Also on the agenda: The excellent new exhibit in the Opera House lobby, Disney's Steam Trains.

This Excursion Car was designed by Bob Gurr, the key Imagineer for designing Disneyland transportation. I met Bob exactly five years ago, which was a great thrill!

The wonderful sketch above was by former child actor turned Disney artist Sam McKim. That drawing was also on display in the 2011 Trains of Disney exhibit. There was some additional overlap between the 2011 and 2016 exhibits, including Bob Gurr's Excursion Car, but there was also a great deal unique to each exhibit. Disney's Steam Trains is a must-see for anyone who loves trains or Disney history.
