Quick Preview of TCM in February: 31 Days of Oscar

The advance peeks at future Turner Classic Movies schedules have been coming quickly of late!

Late last month we received our first looks at the schedules for December and January.

A few days ago, the February schedule was posted as well.

February always means the 31 Days of Oscar Festival on TCM, and this year is no exception.

TCM always looks for a new way to showcase what is usually a fairly standard list of films which are Oscar winners or nominees, and this year the entire lineup will be shown alphabetically! The month kicks off with ABE LINCOLN IN ILLINOIS (1940) on February 1st and ends with Z (1969) on March 3rd.

There's not a lot of room for deviation in the February schedule, given the Oscar requirement. Honestly, after all these years I'd be just as happy to see TCM go a different direction regarding February, allowing for more variety in the schedule, but I do appreciate that it's a great month for newer film fans to catch up on many classic titles.

I've been fortunate to see a number of great films on the February schedule in theaters in the last couple of years, including A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN (1945) and THE YOUNG GIRLS OF ROCHEFORT (1967), and I hope many more film fans will check them out on TCM.

I'll share more regarding the February schedule around the end of January 2017.

In the meantime, Natalie Wood is currently the November Star of the Month, with Myrna Loy scheduled for December and Jane Wyman in January.
