TCM in December: Christmas Movies
Starting on December 1st, TCM will be showcasing Christmas movies on Sundays, with an extensive daytime lineup along with a "double feature" in prime time.
Additional films are scattered throughout the month, with many films airing from December 22nd straight through Christmas Day.

Christmas titles shown on TCM vary a bit from year to year for a variety of reasons. Among the films which haven't turned up on the TCM schedule this Christmas season are HOLIDAY INN (1942), CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT (1945), NEVER SAY GOODBYE (1946), COVER UP (1949), TRAIL OF ROBIN HOOD (1950), and DESK SET (1957), along with WHITE CHRISTMAS (1954), which I don't recall ever being shown on TCM. I list these films simply to provide additional ideas for home viewing.
This year Noir Alley will be debuting the marvelous REPEAT PERFORMANCE (1947) on December 28th and 29th. This magical film has a New Year's Eve setting which makes it perfect for this time of year. Joan Leslie, Louis Hayward, Richard Basehart, and Tom Conway head an excellent cast.As is often the case, New Year's Eve on TCM will be spent with the THIN MAN series and the THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! musical compilation films.

I'll have to have a stern word with TCM. December 1st is much too early for the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol. Here in Canada, it is a Christmas Eve tradition. Is that perhaps the reason for their not screening the movie tonight on TCM Canada?
It is always a treat to visit with old movie friends this time of year and perhaps discover a new one or two.

I am seriously disappointed that TCM isn't showing Christmas in Connecticut this year! I am going to see it in the theatre this Friday, but I still want to watch it on TCM closer to the holiday! I fell lucky to have it on DVD.
I haven't seen the '51 CHRISTMAS CAROL in a few years, Caftan Woman. Perhaps this year is the year! But not today. :)
I agree, it really is like revisiting old friends getting out the old favorites. I wish there were even more Christmas movies out there left for us to discover!
Terry, I haven't seen CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT for a couple years or more. Like you, I have the DVD - I think I may get it out this year! How wonderful you have the opportunity to see it in a theater, that's great!

TCM is failing in their line up for Christmas 2020. I'm catching more Christmas movies on other channels, too bad because I use to enjoy TCM. MEET ME IN SAINT LOUIS, GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME, REALLY?

You can find info on TCM's Christmas 2020 schedule here. If you look at it more closely I think you might be pleasantly surprised. A week-long Christmas movie marathon began today, December 18th, and runs through Christmas.
If you haven't yet seen IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME and MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, both films have extensive Christmas sequences. There are many additional Christmas films on TCM to choose from. (You will not find a few, such as WHITE CHRISTMAS, because other stations have the rights.) I hope this helps!
