94th Annual Academy Award Nominations

The 94th annual Academy Award nominations were announced this morning.

The complete list was published by The Hollywood Reporter.

The awards are again a pretty big yawn for me, not having seen a single one of the Best Picture nominees. The only one I currently plan to watch at some point this year is WEST SIDE STORY (2021).

I'm open to additional suggestions if any of my readers have seen films on the list they think I'd enjoy...I often enjoy Japanese cinema and am wondering about DRIVE MY CAR (2021).

As has become typical for me in recent years, I'm more interested in the nominees for Best Animated Feature. I've seen RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON (2021) and ENCANTO (2021), and I plan to see LUCA (2021) soon.

I haven't seen the other two Animated Feature nominees but I think it would be hard to beat the lovely ENCANTO.

The Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 27th.

A reminder for fans of Turner Classic Movies: The 31 Days of Oscar month will take place on the channel in March.

Previous Oscar nomination posts: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. There was no Oscar post in 2009 and just a brief news roundup mention last year.
