TCM Star of the Month: Humphrey Bogart

Movie great Humphrey Bogart is the September Star of the Month on Turner Classic Movies.

51 Bogart films are on TCM's September schedule. The movies will be shown on Thursday evenings, beginning September 1st, and carry over into the Friday schedules.

This is at least Bogart's third time to be Star of the Month. He was previously honored in 1997 and 2009.

It goes without saying this is a very strong Star of the Month schedule. There are many classics in the lineup, so I'll particularly call attention to a trio of relatively lesser-known titles, ACTION IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC (1942), CONFLICT (1946), and THE TWO MRS. CARROLLS (1947).

ACTION IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC is a fine tribute to the heroism of the Merchant Marine during World War II, while the other two films feature Bogart in atypical roles, playing a wife murderer in each movie. They may not be great movies, but they're both a lot of fun to watch.

The complete schedule is below. I've previously reviewed 26 of this month's movies; please click any hyperlinked title to read my complete review.

It truly is!

(PS I was a bit surprised to realize just how many Bogart films I've reviewed over the years -- though there are so many more I have yet to write about!)

Best wishes,
Laura
