Here's a preview of a few of the interesting titles on Fox Movie Channel's July schedule.
Regular viewers know that Fox typically shows films multiple times over several weeks, and this month's schedule strikes me as more repetitive than most, continuing to recycle previously shown titles without introducing new films to the rotation. Viewers may wish to check my April, May, and June posts for additional titles which may be of interest, and then search the Fox Movie Channel website to see if those films are showing in July.
I've only listed one air date per film. Check the schedule for alternate air dates.
...On Sunday, July 3rd, OUR LITTLE GIRL (1935) will be shown. It stars Joel McCrea and Shirley Temple. That's followed by Shirley in REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM (1938).
...A Clara Bow pre-Code, CALL HER SAVAGE (1932), will be shown on July 6th.
...IN OLD CHICAGO (1937) airs on July 7th, starring Tyrone Power, Don Ameche, and Alice Faye. Be sure to check out Jacqueline's recent post on this film at Another Old Movie Blog.
...A favorite Gregory Peck-Richard Widmark Western, YELLOW SKY (1948), will be shown July 9th. It was directed by William Wellman and filmed in Lone Pine, California.
...I'm very fond of the musical THREE LITTLE GIRLS IN BLUE (1946), starring June Haver, George Montgomery, Vivian Blaine, and Vera-Ellen. It's on July 11th.
...I remember THE FABULOUS BAKER BOYS (1989), which I saw not long after it came out, as being fairly enjoyable. It stars Jeff and Beau Bridges in the title roles, plus Michelle Pfeiffer. It's on July 13th.
...I really enjoyed Richard Conte and Susan Hayward in HOUSE OF STRANGERS (1949) recently. It airs on Fox on July 15th.
...Barbra Streisand can make me nuts, but there's no denying she was in great voice in HELLO, DOLLY! (1969), which also has some wonderful musical arrangements. "Put On Your Sunday Clothes," staged by director Gene Kelly and choreographer Michael Kidd, is a terrific number which is recent years has become known as the movie scene which fascinates WALL-E (2008). It's on July 16th.
...On July 22nd there's another chance to see RAMONA (1936), starring Loretta Young and Don Ameche.
...BORN TO BE BAD (1934), with Cary Grant and Loretta Young, airs again on July 24th. There's a brand-new post on the movie at the blog Shadows and Satin.
...There's a Cisco Kid double bill on July 30th, with THE RETURN OF THE CISCO KID (1939) followed by CISCO KID AND THE LADY (1940). What's curious is Cesar Romero plays a supporting role in the first film, with Warner Baxter as the Cisco Kid, and then Romero moves up to playing the Cisco Kid himself in the next film! Lynn Bari is in the '39 movie, with Marjorie Weaver and George Montgomery in the 1940 edition.
Happy viewing!
Thanks for the link. I didn't know it was going to be on TV this week.
