Vin Scully Addresses Retiring...or Not!

Encouraging news for Dodgers fans: in a conversation with the L.A. Times' Bill Plaschke, Vinnie strongly hinted he will be continuing to broadcast Dodger games beyond this year, when his current contract ends.

Scully, who is 80, is in his 59th season with the club. That's right: 59 years!

Plaschke puts it beautifully: "So we can relax now, he says he's staying. But make no mistake, he's also leaving. His recent comments remind us that the voice of the dawning of baseball in Los Angeles has become a deep, glowing, wondrous sunset.

"We need to sit still for a while and stare at it, embrace it, cling to it in hopes of keeping it there forever."

I had no idea Vin Scully was 80. It's impossible to think of anyone else broadcasting the Dodger games. We've been going through a similar thing with Skip Caray and the Braves. His health is very fragile right now so he's stopped doing road games.
