"Clarity"

I think many of us had clarity about Barack Obama's beliefs before last November, but as Paul Mirengoff writes at Power Line: "We now know for certain that Obama is an out-and-out statist bent on redistributing income and clamping down on free markets. He desires...to convert our free and vibrant economy into a European-style nanny state.

"Conservatives must be equally single-minded in the defense of our country's way of life."

John Hinderaker provides a bit of encouragement that many Americans are skeptical of the new President's alarming plans for "higher taxes, unprecedented federal spending and control over the economy, and crushing levels of debt." And in a recession, no less!

Charles Krauthammer has also written this weekend about Obama's plans to transform America into a European-style "socialist democracy." Will he succeed in turning our nation into a "regulation-bound, economically sclerotic, socially stagnant, nanny state"?
