Today at Disneyland: Storytellers Cafe

Today we did something we've always wanted to do and enjoyed the character breakfast buffet at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel.

The breakfast is at Storytellers Cafe (click the title of this post for the link).

Part of the restaurant exterior:

Like the rest of the hotel, the cafe is themed with the California Craftsman look. There are interesting quotes scattered around the cafe.

The floor at the entrance...it wouldn't all fit in the camera lens!

The menu...

...and the buffet.

Mickey waffles! The server brings a big plate of them straight to the table, along with your drinks. Everything else you pick up at the buffet line.

Some of the interesting decor:

This lit panel ran along the wall right next to our table:

A visit from Rafiki!

A beautiful Tiffany-style lamp in the Grand Californian lobby:

And here's a view of part of the exterior of the Grand Californian, with the Monorail track visible amidst the trees.

If you click to enlarge, you can make out the Grand Californian's tree logo in the top window.

On to Disneyland for a short visit...

First stop, City Hall on Main Street, to receive my $69 gift card!

Another lovely summer day on Main Street:

We went on Snow White, which reopened a few days ago after being refurbished:

And we also went on King Arthur's Carrousel.

Today I rode Jingles, the lead horse we saw dedicated to Julie Andrews last year. Note the Mary Poppins umbrella behind the saddle!

Here's a closeup of the saddle, with Julie Andrews' initials and Mary Poppins designs. The 50 is symbolic of her service as Honorary Ambassador for Disneyland's 50th Anniversary.

The front of the horse says "Honorary Ambassador":

I wonder how many people ride Jingles every day without knowing its special history?

One more beautiful detail, the clock hanging inside Sleeping Beauty Castle:

A short and sweet visit...we hope to return soon to see the Magical! fireworks and Fantasmic.

Hold the fort - if you picked up your $69 gift card, that means it has to be your birthday ... right? And I see that birthday button. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
